5 in class, including me… all were upper belts (brown and higher). So, today, I paired the 2 ladies together and the other 2 guys together… I asked them to go through as much of the curriculum (up to their specific belt) as they could get through… My goal today was to let them work through any issues they has with as little intervention from me as possible… mission accomplished. Both pairs worked through most of the issues they had using the principles they know.
One group though they had mistakenly “invented” new techniques because the were unintentionally applying one part of the curriculum to a different set of “grabs”.
What they really did was apply everything they’ve learned to situations we have not previously covered. So, again, mission accomplished. Very proud of them for applying principles instead of just memorizing… yeah!
