2 in class tonight. So we worked on some doublestick sinawali to warm up. Then we spent the last 40 minutes of class looking at punch defenses.

NOTE: Due to the potential for severe weather, York County canceled all after school activities for Friday and all activities in their facilities for Saturday and Sunday. So there will be no classes this Saturday.

Today, we had an abbreviated class of 45 minutes because this was the day for the school’s Summer Pot Luck.

However, between the end of class and the start of the Pot Luck, we gave the parents and TKD students a 30-minute discussion/demo of Combat Hapkido and self-defense topics. We had a question and answer session as part of this demo. Some really good questions were asked and discussions ensued.

That was followed by a TKD student demo.

4 in class. Today, we focused on 3 of the mainstays in the system… armbar, z-lock, and outside wrist lock.

The purpose was, “no matter how you are grabbed (or whether a punch is thrown), somehow get to one of those three”.

The intent was to try to “reconize a body configuration you’ve seen before”… therefore easier to deal with… for example, if you see a straight arm, you can hyperextend their arm, regardless of how you do it, hyperextend it.
